David is a practising Architect, Lecturer in Architecture at the Scott Sutherland School, and Property Developer.
He studied at both Strathclyde University Glasgow, and the Scott Sutherland
School Aberdeen, graduating as a Master of Architecture with Distinction.
David's career began in commercial architectural practice, alongside part time work as a design tutor, and later he established David Vardy Architecture (also known as DVA). The practice has developed an expertise using modern
methods of timber construction - particularly massive timber - and with
innovation in housing.
David runs Unit 2 at the Scott Sutherland School with Professor Alan Dunlop.
Recent projects include a proposal for a floating settlement in Eidsvåg, Bergen, and a series of internationally located schools projects. The units current work
is concerned with social housing.
In 2014 David formed Greenhouse with Builder/ Philosopher James Fairley.
Greenhouse specialise in the design and build of modern low energy housing.
David is currently Principal Architect at DVA, Lecturer in Architecture at the Scott Sutherland School, and Creative Director of Greenhouse.
